Vigilance Technologies has developed a drone interface to work with its camera detection system. It is based on ardupilot open source software . Any aerial drone or rover travelling over the ground or water can be directed to particular GPS co-ordinate when a pest animal is detected. The drone is fitted open source pixhawk hardware which is compatible with the ardupilot software.

Ground or water based rovers can easily be fitted with sufficient battery capacity to last several hours. Aerial drones need to be charged more regularly. Drone charging stations now exist, that allow the drone to wirelessly charge on a charging pad.

If an automated aerial drone is to be used CASA approval is required.

Line of sight rules may be waived if the drone is being used on private land and can be proven to be safe.
